RPF SEALDAH RECOVERED SNATCHED GOLD CHAIN AT SEALDAH STATION, ARRESTS CULPRIT

Kolkata : On May 3, 2024, quick action by the Crime Prevention and Detection Squad (CPRS) of Railway Protection Force (RPF) at Sealdah Railway Station led to the arrest of a 35-year-old male suspect involved in a snatching incident. The incident occurred at Platform No. 6 during the arrival of Train No. 03197 Sealdah Lalgola Memu train.

The accused, identified as Manur Shaw, was apprehended while attempting to flee after forcefully taking a gold chain from Maniha Dey, a passenger of the train. The RPF team responded promptly to the distress, managing to capture Shaw before he could escape the premises.

Upon his arrest, a search was conducted which led to the recovery of the stolen gold chain valued at ₹1,70,000 (approximately) and a mobile phone worth ₹15,000, totalling ₹1,85,000 in stolen goods. The seized items were immediately returned to the rightful owner, ensuring proper identification and relief to the victim.

The arrested individual has been handed over to the Government Railway Police Station (GRPS) at Sealdah for further legal action.

The Railway Protection Force remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of all passengers and continues to enforce strict measures against any criminal activities within the railway premises.
