Kolkata : In a remarkable achievement, vigilant troops of Border Outpost (BOP) Ghojadanga of the 102 Battalion under BSF South Bengal Frontier have dealt a crushing blow to trans-border narcotics smuggling networks. Acting on precise information, the troops seized a massive consignment of 69,347 Yaba tablets valued at ₹6,93,47,000, thwarting a major smuggling operation near the India-Bangladesh border.
On 23rd November, specific information was received about a concealed stash of contraband items in Mihir Ghosh parking area, within the jurisdiction of BOP Ghojadanga. Responding swiftly, the Company Commander dispatched a Quick Reaction Team (QRT) to the location. The team meticulously cordoned off and searched the area, eventually uncovering a suspicious backpack. Upon inspection, the backpack contained five large packets tightly wrapped in brown tape. Inside these packets, 350 smaller poly packets were discovered, which held the Yaba tablets.
Following due process, the seized Yaba tablets were handed over to the Customs Department, Ghojadanga for further investigation and action.
The Public Relations Officer of BSF South Bengal Frontier highlighted the proactive measures being taken to combat smuggling along the Indo-Bangladesh border. He asserted, “The BSF remains resolute in its mission to eliminate illegal activities across the border. Our troops are vigilant and determined, ensuring no stone is left unturned in curbing these menaces.
