Kolkata : Sealdah Division conducted a comprehensive ticket checking drive between Sealdah and Bangaon section. Led by Divisional Commercial Manager Sri Sashi Ranjan Kumar guided by Sr.Divisional Commercial Manager Pawan Kumar under the dynamic leadership of Divisional Railway Manager, Sealdah Deepak Nigam. This initiative aimed to ensure enhance revenue generation, and promote responsible travel practices.
Over the course of the drive, ticket checking staff meticulously examined tickets of passengers traveling on various trains within the specified section. This rigorous inspection resulted in the detection of 588 cases including without ticket and un booked luggage of ticketless travel or instances of improper ticketing. A total of ₹157,755 was collected as fines from the offenders, contributing significantly to railway revenue.
Beyond revenue generation, the primary objective of this drive was to educate passengers on the importance of purchasing valid tickets. By promoting the use of digital ticketing platforms such as UTS on mobile, the railways aim to provide a seamless and convenient travel experience for all passengers.
