Kolkata: In a display of exemplary diligence and commitment to passenger safety and security, Asit Kr. Paul, Chief Inspector of Ticket (CIT) at Sealdah (SDAH), recovered an unclaimed bag containing a substantial amount of cash, along with other personal belongings, from Train No. 12358 Durgiana Exp.on April 4, 2025.
During routine checks and inspections, Paul discovered the unattended bag, prompting immediate action to ensure the safety of the contents and to locate the actual owner. Upon thorough inspection, the bag was found to contain Rs. 103,820 in cash, along with other personal items.
Recognizing the importance of returning the belongings to the rightful owner, Sri Paul promptly handed over the recovered bag and its contents to the Railway Protection Force (RPF) at Kolkata Station. The RPF has taken custody of the items and will undertake the necessary procedures to identify and try to contact with the passenger.
This incident underscores the vigilance and integrity of railway personnel in maintaining a safe and secure environment for passengers. Timely action taken by Asit Kr. Paul reflects the commitment of the Railways to passenger welfare and the efficient handling of lost and found items.
