New Delhi : The Election Commission of India (ECI) held a detailed meeting with representatives of major political parties at Nirvachan Sadan to decode the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll in Bihar. Chaired by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and Election Commissioners Dr. Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Dr. Vivek Joshi, the Commission assured that the process is progressing smoothly and transparently.

Representatives from INC, RJD, SP, DMK, NCP (Sharad Pawar), JMM, CPI(M), CPI(ML) Liberation, CPI, and Shiv Sena (UBT) attended. ECI emphasized the importance of active participation by Booth Level Agents (BLAs), with over 1.5 lakh already engaged.

The multi-phase SIR includes door-to-door distribution and collection of Enumeration Forms (EFs), verification using the 2003 electoral roll, and document submission based on birth year. BLOs, assisted by nearly 4 lakh volunteers, are facilitating the process, especially for vulnerable groups.

The Draft Electoral Roll will be published on August 1, with a window for claims and objections until September 1. The Final Electoral Roll will be released on September 30, 2025. ECI urged all eligible voters to engage proactively to ensure no one is left behind.
