Kolkata: This Dussehra, Kolkata is set to witness one of East India’s grandest celebrations as Salt Lake Sanskritik Sansad Committee and Sanmarg gear up to host their 13th annual Ravana Dahan at Central Park, Salt Lake, on October 2, 2025.
The highlight of the evening will be the burning of a 60-feet-tall Ravana effigy, along with 50-feet effigies of Meghnad and Kumbhakaran. The spectacle will be accompanied by sacred rituals, cultural performances, and a dramatic fire show, drawing an expected crowd of more than 25,000 people.
“This festival is not just about rituals—it is a reminder of the timeless triumph of good over evil,” said Lalit Beriwala, Chairman of the Trust Board of Salt Lake Sanskritik Sansad.
The festivities will begin on October 1 with a lively Dandiya Night, where citizens can dance to Garba and Dandiya beats, enjoy live music, and soak in the colours of Navratri.

Organisers have assured elaborate safety, seating and entertainment arrangements to make the two-day event family-friendly. The celebration will also feature food stalls, community activities, and cultural showcases, blending devotion with the festive spirit of Kolkata.
Salt Lake Sanskritik Sansad has also used the platform over the years to raise awareness and support for its social initiatives, including education, healthcare, and charitable programs for the underprivileged.
