Kolkata: As Kolkata prepares to celebrate Durga Puja with grandeur, Manipal Hospitals, Kolkata, has assured uninterrupted, world-class healthcare across its five units—EM Bypass, Mukundapur, Dhakuria, Salt Lake, and Broadway. Recognizing that medical emergencies know no festival, the hospital has announced a series of proactive measures to safeguard the health of citizens during the festive season.
To strengthen its emergency services, 17 MARS ambulances will be strategically stationed across the city for immediate response to critical cases. The hospital has also launched a 24×7 teleconsultation facility, enabling patients and families to connect with doctors anytime during the Puja. Around 20 specialists from various disciplines will remain available for both virtual and in-person consultations.
Understanding the heightened vulnerability of senior citizens during festivities, Manipal Hospitals conducted interactive sessions with 50 senior citizen associations in Kolkata, focusing on emergency preparedness, early recognition of warning signs, first-aid techniques, and quick access to medical services. This initiative reflects the hospital’s commitment to empowering the elderly and their caregivers with life-saving knowledge.
Speaking on the initiative, Dr. Indranil Das, Senior Consultant – Emergency Medicine, Manipal Hospital, EM Bypass, said:
“Durga Puja is a time for celebration, but medical emergencies don’t wait. Our team is prepared to respond within minutes—whether it’s chest pain, an accident on a crowded street, or a late-night medical query. With 17 MARS ambulances and round-the-clock teleconsultation, expert assistance is always just a call away.”
Dr. Kishen Goel, Consultant & Head of Emergency, Manipal Hospitals, Kolkata, added:
