Kolkata: In a major step toward improving nutrition and reducing hidden hunger, Millers for Nutrition, powered by TechnoServe, launched five new fortified rice and wheat flour brands in West Bengal during an event held at Peerless Hotel, Kolkata.
The launch brings together millers, government representatives and nutrition experts to expand access to fortified staple foods across the state. Speaking at the event, experts stressed that fortified staples such as rice and atta enriched with iron, folic acid and vitamin B12 can play a key role in reducing anaemia—especially among women and children.
The newly launched products include fortified atta and rice from KPS Agro Products, Gitakshi Mercantile, Jasmine Rice Mill, Hanumanta Food Products and Bagaria Foods LLP under the Royal brand.
Millers for Nutrition announced continued support to local millers through training and technical assistance to scale fortification and make nutritious staples more widely available for families in West Bengal.
