Mumbai: Renowned Bollywood playback singer Kumar Sanu has initiated legal proceedings by filing a ₹50 crore defamation suit through his legal counsel, Advocate Sana Raees Khan. The suit pertains to statements allegedly made by his former wife, which, according to the filing, have caused serious harm to his reputation and professional standing.
As per the legal documents, Kumar Sanu has stated that the remarks in question have adversely affected the goodwill and credibility he has built over several decades in the Indian music industry. The plea further notes that the alleged statements have led to mental distress and have had a negative impact on his public image as well as his professional engagements.
The defamation suit, filed on his behalf by Advocate Sana Raees Khan, asserts that the statements are false, malicious, and without factual basis, and have resulted in both personal and professional hardship for the singer.
Through this legal action, Kumar Sanu seeks to protect his reputation and legacy, while requesting appropriate compensation for the losses he claims to have suffered as a result of the alleged defamatory remarks.
