Bengal & Sikkim’s NCC Cadets Shine as Governor Felicitates RDC 2026 Heroes

Kolkata : The Governor of West Bengal, Dr. C. V. Ananda Bose, presided over a distinguished felicitation ceremony at Lok Bhavan, Kolkata, honouring the exceptional achievements, discipline, and service of cadets from the National Cadet Corps (NCC) Directorate, West Bengal & Sikkim.

The prestigious event was attended by Major General Amarpal Singh Chahal, Sena Medal, Additional Director General, NCC Directorate West Bengal & Sikkim, along with senior officers, dignitaries, NCC officials, and proud cadets.

A key highlight of the ceremony was the conferment of the Governor’s Medal on 55 outstanding NCC cadets representing the Army, Navy, and Air Force wings. These medals recognised exemplary performance in NCC training, leadership, community service, and contributions to nation-building. In addition, trophies and banners were awarded to the Best Army, Navy and Air Force NCC Units, as well as the Best NCC Group, for superior overall performance.

The Honourable Governor also lauded the remarkable performance of the NCC contingent from West Bengal & Sikkim at the Republic Day Parade and Republic Day Camp (RDC) 2026. A moment of special pride came as Cadet Sergeant Priti Sharma was adjudged the Best Air Force Cadet (Senior Wing) among cadets from 17 NCC Directorates across the country. The RDC contingent also secured the Best Line Area Trophy, reflecting excellence in drill, discipline and overall representation.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Ananda Bose highlighted the pivotal role of the NCC in shaping character, leadership, and national values among youth. He emphasised the organisation’s significant contribution to nation-building, patriotism and civic responsibility, describing NCC cadets as the torchbearers of India’s future.

The ceremony resonated with pride and admiration as dignitaries and fellow cadets applauded the awardees for their dedication and outstanding accomplishments.

The Governor’s Medal Ceremony stands as a powerful testament to the discipline, commitment and spirit of service embodied by the youth of West Bengal and Sikkim, inspiring future generations to strive for excellence and contribute meaningfully to the nation.
