Kolkata: TVS Motor Company has expanded its electric mobility portfolio with the launch of the TVS Orbiter V1, a new entry-level electric scooter designed for urban commuting. The company also announced the introduction of Battery-As-A-Service (BaaS) across its electric vehicle lineup, offering customers a flexible ownership model.
With the addition of the Orbiter V1 and the BaaS model, the company’s EV scooter range now starts at ₹49,999 (ex-showroom Delhi), inclusive of the government’s PM e-Drive Scheme incentives. Customers who choose to purchase the scooter without the BaaS subscription can buy the Orbiter V1 at ₹84,500 (ex-showroom Delhi).
Practical Urban Electric Mobility
The TVS Orbiter V1, powered by a 1.8 kWh battery, has been designed to make daily electric commuting simpler and more practical for city riders. With this addition, the Orbiter lineup now includes two variants — V1 with a 1.8 kWh battery and V2 with a 3.1 kWh battery.
The scooter offers a certified IDC range of 86 km and supports 0–80% charging in approximately 2 hours and 20 minutes, making it suitable for everyday city mobility. It also features a connected mobile app, front LED headlamp with visor, and a colour LCD instrument cluster with incoming call display to enhance rider convenience.
Design and Comfort
Built around a modern and practical design philosophy, the Orbiter V1 balances aesthetics with everyday usability. It features an 845 mm long flat-form seat for rider and pillion comfort, along with a 290 mm straight-line footboard that provides generous legroom.
The scooter also includes 34 litres of under-seat storage, large enough to accommodate two helmets, while the upright handlebar ensures an ergonomic riding posture for comfortable city rides.
Connected Technology Features
The Orbiter series comes equipped with several smart features aimed at improving safety, connectivity and rider convenience, including:
- Crash, fall, anti-theft, geo-fencing and time-fencing alerts
- Remote battery charge and odometer monitoring through the mobile app
- Turn-by-turn navigation with customizable settings
- Call, SMS and alert notifications on the digital cluster
- Hill Hold Assist, Cruise Control and Parking Assist
- Over-the-air (OTA) software updates
- Dual ride modes — Eco and Power, with regenerative braking
Battery-As-A-Service (BaaS) Model
With the introduction of BaaS, customers can subscribe to battery usage instead of paying the full battery cost upfront. The model separates the vehicle price from the battery cost, making electric vehicles more affordable at the time of purchase while offering flexibility in running costs.
Under the BaaS programme, customers can opt for flexible payment plans starting at ₹862 per month, which also include an extended warranty of up to five years or 70,000 km, along with unlimited monthly usage during the subscription period.

Commenting on the launch, Gaurav Gupta, President – India 2W Business at TVS Motor Company, said the Orbiter V1 strengthens the company’s EV lineup by creating a more accessible entry point into electric scooters.
He added that separating the vehicle price from the battery cost through BaaS allows customers to better understand the overall cost of ownership while making EV adoption more flexible.
