Kolkata: The role of West Bengal in India’s journey towards becoming a developed nation by 2047 came under discussion at the DTPA Annual Conference 2026, held at Hotel Taj Bengal on Sunday.
Organised by the Direct Taxes Professionals’ Association (DTPA), the conference was themed “TAX NEXT: Innovation, Governance & Growth – Adapting Today, Leading Tomorrow.”
The conference was inaugurated by Rathindra Bose, Speaker of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly, with Surbhi Verma Garg, IRS, Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, West Bengal & Sikkim, attending as Guest of Honour. Shailendra Kumar Tiwari was also present at the conference.
A key session on “Viksit Bharat 2047: Role of West Bengal in India’s Development Journey” featured Dr Ashok Lahiri, Dr Swapan Dasgupta, Sujit Kumar and Prakash Dubey. The discussion focused on Bengal’s economic potential, development prospects and investment opportunities.
The conference also featured sessions on capital markets, Benami law, PMLA, black money and major changes in income-tax laws. Speakers included CA Anil Singhvi, Ajay Bagga, Ashwani Taneja and Dr (CA) Girish Ahuja.
The event concluded with a lucky draw.
