Kolkata: Japanese watchmaker CITIZEN Watches opened its relocated flagship store at South City Mall in Kolkata on Thursday, with Bengali actor Abir Chatterjee attending the launch event.
The opening comes in a significant year for the brand as CITIZEN marks 50 years of its Eco-Drive technology, which uses light to power watches and reduces the need for regular battery replacement.
The event was attended by senior officials of CITIZEN Watches India, business partners and members of the media. Abir Chatterjee interacted with the media and spoke about his interest in precision watches. He also referred to the history behind the BULOVA Lunar Pilot collection and its connection with the moon-landing era.
Visitors at the launch got an opportunity to view the latest collections from CITIZEN and BULOVA, along with the brands’ watchmaking technologies.
Speaking at the event, Koichiro Usui, Managing Director of CITIZEN Watches India, said the relocation of the Kolkata flagship store was an important milestone for the company. He also highlighted Kolkata’s importance as a market for the brand.
The launch also highlighted five decades of Eco-Drive, a technology developed by CITIZEN that converts light into energy to keep a watch running.
With the new store at South City Mall, CITIZEN has shifted its Kolkata flagship presence to a new location while continuing to cater to watch buyers and enthusiasts in the city.
