Kolkata: Suraksha Diagnostics Limited has expanded access to advanced diagnostic imaging in Kolkata with the introduction of its latest MRI and CT capabilities at Mukundapur. The facility features the uMR 780 AI-enabled 3T MRI system and the uCT 780 160-slice CT scanner, aimed at supporting detailed clinical assessments while improving the overall scanning experience for patients.
The new imaging systems combine advanced technologies designed to assist radiologists in evaluating a range of medical conditions, supporting diagnosis, treatment planning and follow-up care.
AI-Enabled MRI Technology Focuses on Image Quality and Patient Comfort
MRI examinations can be challenging for some patients because of scanning noise, anxiety and the need to remain still for extended periods. The uMR 780 incorporates several technologies designed to address these concerns.
Its AI-assisted Compressed Sensing (ACS) technology accelerates image acquisition, potentially reducing the time patients need to remain still during examinations. QScan technology reduces acoustic noise in supported scanning sequences, while SuperFlex coils are designed to conform to the body for improved positioning comfort.
The system also features a 3-tesla magnet and dedicated imaging coils to support detailed examinations across different body regions. Its DeepRecon deep-learning technology helps reduce image noise and improve the visibility of anatomical structures, providing radiologists with additional information for clinical interpretation.
The actual scanning time and benefits of individual features may vary depending on the examination and the patient.
Advanced CT Scanner Supports Cardiac and Other Clinical Assessments
Alongside the MRI facility, the uCT 780 160-slice CT scanner brings advanced imaging capabilities for cardiac, chest and abdominal examinations.
The system supports cardiac imaging through rapid rotation and cardiac phase-selection tools designed to capture images of the moving heart. Dedicated analysis tools assist radiologists in evaluating coronary artery narrowing and plaque.
Its DELTA deep-learning reconstruction technology helps reduce image noise and supports dose optimisation. Imaging protocols are selected by the clinical team according to the patient’s requirements and the nature of the examination.
The scanner’s capabilities also extend to chest and abdominal assessments, allowing it to support a broader range of diagnostic needs.
Suraksha Emphasises Patient-Centred Diagnostic Care
Commenting on the investment, Dr. Somnath Chatterjee, Chairman and Managing Director of Suraksha Diagnostics Limited, said the initiative aims to bring advanced diagnostic capabilities closer to Kolkata residents while addressing the needs of both patients and doctors.
“Behind every scan is a person seeking answers and a doctor deciding the next step. Our investment at Mukundapur is intended to support both. We are bringing advanced diagnostic capabilities closer to the people of Kolkata, with greater attention to the patient’s experience and the quality of information available to doctors. This reflects Suraksha’s continuing commitment to the city’s healthcare needs,” he said.
Ritu Mittal, CEO of Suraksha Diagnostics Limited, highlighted the importance of addressing common patient concerns associated with diagnostic imaging.
She said the new facility combines technologies designed to shorten MRI image acquisition, reduce scanning noise and improve positioning comfort with tools that help radiologists assess anatomical details.
According to Mittal, the focus is on making advanced diagnostics more accessible to patients while providing doctors with useful imaging information to support clinical decision-making.
Breast Health and Cardiac Care in Focus
The media interaction also highlighted the importance of preventive healthcare and timely medical assessment, particularly in breast health and cardiac care.
Coinciding with Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the discussion underscored the importance of awareness, recognising relevant symptoms, considering family history and seeking appropriate clinical assessment and investigations when required.
Through its investment at Mukundapur, Suraksha Diagnostics aims to strengthen access to advanced imaging in Kolkata and surrounding areas, combining modern diagnostic technology with expert radiological interpretation and greater attention to patient comfort.
The initiative reflects the growing role of advanced imaging in supporting clinical evaluation and helping healthcare professionals make informed decisions about patient care.
