DHANYENTARI UDYAN AND PLANTATION OF HERBAL TREES BY ERWWO AT SEALDAH

Kolkata : In an endeavour to promote cleaner, healthier environment and to achieve environmental sustainability, Indian Railway Women’s Welfare Organization, under inspirational leadership of Seema Deouskar, President ERWWO organized a plantation drive at Officers’ colony Sealdah. In a bid to secure greener tomorrow, Dhanyentari Udyan was inaugurated for plantation of herbal trees having medicinal values. A total of 21 types of herbal plants, viz., Tulsi, Aloevera, Brahmi, Amla, Harad, Nirgundi, Chandan, Peepli etc. were planted by members of ERWWO in presence of Gunjan Nigam, President Sealdah. The main focus of this plantation drive is to conserve biodiversity and to initiate environmental movement.

In another initiative for uplifting poor women through skill building and creating economic opportunities, two sewing machines were gifted by Seema Deouskar, President ERWWO to the downtrodden and economically weaker women at Sui Dhaaga Selai Kendra, run by ERWWO Sealdah in B.C.Roy Auditorium Sealdah. ERWWO strongly believe in potential of every woman to create positive changes by eradicating gender bias and unlocking brighter future for all women having pecuniary predicaments.

Sealdah Division’s extensive tree plantation drives throughout the year is a testament to its unflinching dedication and unwavering devotion to combat restoration of ecological balance and to achieve the target of becoming carbon neutral Eastern Railway by 2030.
