Poonch: In a significant success for Indian security forces, a meticulously planned counter-terrorism mission — Operation ShivShakti — was launched in the Poonch Sector during the early hours of July 30, resulting in the elimination of two heavily armed terrorists.
The operation was initiated based on credible intelligence inputs acquired through seamless coordination between Indian Army units, civil intelligence agencies, and the Jammu & Kashmir Police. Security forces swiftly acted on the intel, laying tactical ambushes along suspected infiltration routes near the Line of Control (LoC).
A fierce gunfight broke out in the pre-dawn hours, leading to the neutralisation of the terrorists. A substantial cache of war-like stores was recovered, which includes two assault rifles with ammunition, a pistol, hand grenades, two improvised explosive devices (IEDs), medicines, communication equipment, and other logistical support items.
The recovery indicates that the terrorists were equipped for a long-drawn confrontation. Notably, the operation was carried out without any civilian casualties or collateral damage, underscoring the precision and professionalism of the troops involved.
Operation ShivShakti is seen as a significant blow to Pakistan-sponsored terror outfits operating in the region and reinforces India’s resolve to maintain peace and thwart cross-border terrorism in Jammu & Kashmir.
Search operations continue in surrounding areas to ensure complete sanitisation of the region.
