Kolkata: The Builders’ Association of India (BAI) Eastern Centre celebrated a landmark occasion on Monday, hosting a grand felicitation ceremony to mark its 75 years of service to nation-building alongside the observance of Engineers’ Day 2025.
The twin celebration honoured the Association’s enduring legacy in the engineering and construction sector while paying tribute to Bharat Ratna M. Visvesvaraya, the visionary engineer and statesman whose birth anniversary is commemorated as Engineers’ Day across India.
Felicitation of Eminent Engineers
At the heart of the celebration was a special felicitation ceremony, recognising senior technocrats and eminent engineers who have set benchmarks in innovation, excellence, and service across diverse sectors. Their contributions were hailed as pivotal in shaping India’s infrastructure landscape and advancing the built environment.
Chairman’s Address
Speaking on the occasion, Amlan Kumar Biswas, Chairman – BAI Kolkata Centre, highlighted BAI’s mission of fostering unity, ethics, and transparency in the construction industry.
“Our organisation has consistently strived to modernize construction practices, standardize tender procedures, and ensure worker safety and welfare. With over 80 years of experience, we have introduced initiatives such as Price Variation Clauses and hosted the All India Builders’ Convention to encourage knowledge exchange and business opportunities, strengthening bonds within the industry,” he said.
Distinguished Gathering
The event was attended by senior officials from CPWD, PWD, HRBC, MBL, PHE, along with renowned engineers, policymakers, academic leaders, and professionals from the infrastructure and construction sectors.
The evening stood as both a reflection on the 75-year journey of BAI Eastern Centre and a reaffirmation of the critical role engineers continue to play in driving innovation, technical advancement, and sustainable infrastructure development in India.
