Fortune’s Women’s Day Film Highlights Shared Responsibility in the Kitchen

Kolkata: Ahead of International Women’s Day, Fortune, the flagship edible oil brand of AWL Agri Business Limited (formerly Adani Wilmar), has released a digital film that highlights the importance of shared responsibilities at home. The film uses a relatable moment between a husband and wife to spark a wider conversation about everyday gender roles within households.

Conceptualised around the idea that the kitchen is often perceived as a woman’s domain, the film portrays a familiar household situation where a husband decides to cook for the day. As he begins preparing the meal, he quickly realises that he does not know where basic ingredients such as flour, oil and coriander are kept.

The moment becomes reflective when his wife gently points out that while cooking is frequently expected from women, the effort, organisation and knowledge required to manage a kitchen are often overlooked or taken for granted.

The film concludes with a simple yet powerful message: when the kitchen becomes everyone’s responsibility, the food prepared at home truly becomes “ghar ka khana.” Through this initiative, Fortune emphasises that appreciation for the work done at home begins with understanding, participation and shared responsibility.

Commenting on the initiative, Mukesh Mishra, Joint President – Sales & Marketing at AWL Agri Business Ltd., said,
“At Fortune we have always emphasised ‘Ghar Ka Khana’ (home-cooked food) as a way to foster togetherness, affection and cultural bonding within families. International Women’s Day is not only about celebrating women, but also about recognising the everyday responsibilities they carry. Through this new film, Fortune hopes to inspire families to share household roles and appreciate the effort that goes into preparing every meal. After all, ‘ghar ka khana’ becomes truly special when everyone contributes to the wellbeing of the family.”

The film has been released across digital platforms ahead of International Women’s Day, encouraging viewers to reflect on how small actions—such as participating in everyday household responsibilities—can help build more balanced and equal partnerships at home.
