Kolkata: Ambuja Neotia Group inaugurated the third edition of the B.V. Doshi Memorial Exhibition at Kalavaani, Swabhumi, on Saturday, bringing architecture, public space and collective life into focus.

Titled ‘In Pursuit of Publicness’, this year’s exhibition showcases the work of architect Madhusudhan Chalasani, Founder and Principal Architect of MADe. The exhibition brings together built and unbuilt projects, drawings, models and research spanning nearly two decades of Chalasani’s architectural practice.

The exhibition explores how architecture can create spaces that remain open, adaptable and connected to the public realm. It also looks at architecture as a framework for collective life rather than merely as built form.

Speaking at the inauguration, Harshavardhan Neotia, Chairman, Ambuja Neotia Group, said the B.V. Doshi Memorial Exhibition was conceived to continue the conversations inspired by the celebrated architect and to highlight architecture that places people and society at its centre.

Architect Madhusudhan Chalasani said publicness is created through elements such as voids, thresholds and streets that allow the city to continue through a building. The exhibition, he said, brings together nearly two decades of this exploration, including several unrealised projects.

Veteran architect Rajeev Kathpalia, Partner at Vastu Shilpa Consultants and a close associate of B.V. Doshi, and Radhika Doshi, daughter of B.V. Doshi and wife of Kathpalia, were also present at the event.
