Hyderabad: Heartfulness Institute (HFI), a non-profit organisation and part of the wider Heartfulness movement guided by Kamlesh D. Patel (Daaji), has signed a five-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Institute of Teaching and Research in Ayurveda (ITRA), Jamnagar, an Institute of National Importance under the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India.
The partnership aims to strengthen collaboration in Ayurveda, integrative health, education, research, training and environmental sustainability.
The MoU was signed by T.V. Kamalakkannan, CEO, Heartfulness Wellness, and Prof. (Dr.) Tanuja Nesari, Director, ITRA, in the presence of Shri Prataprao Ganpatrao Jadhav, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of AYUSH.
The partnership brings together Heartfulness Institute’s expertise in wellness, yoga, meditation and environmental conservation with ITRA’s academic, research and healthcare expertise in Ayurveda. The collaboration will promote a holistic approach to health and wellbeing by integrating Ayurveda with practices such as yoga and meditation.
Commenting on the partnership, T.V. Kamalakkannan, CEO, Heartfulness Wellness, said that the collaboration reflects Heartfulness Institute’s commitment to bringing traditional wisdom together with education, research and community wellbeing. He added that the partnership would help strengthen evidence-based integrative health, expand learning and research opportunities, and support the creation of healthier and greener campuses.
Joint Research and Training Initiatives
Under the MoU, the two institutions will undertake joint research projects in Ayurveda and complementary and integrative health, covering areas such as wellness, disease prevention and disease management.
The institutions will also collaborate on national and international research proposals, sponsored research opportunities, capacity-building initiatives and skill-development programmes. Workshops, Continuing Medical Education (CME) programmes, certificate courses and diploma courses will also form part of the collaboration.
Academic Exchange and Knowledge Sharing
The partnership will extend to conferences, seminars, symposiums, expos and exhibitions. Student and faculty exchange programmes will provide researchers, academicians and students from both institutions with opportunities to exchange knowledge and gain access to academic and research facilities.
Prof. (Dr.) Tanuja Nesari, Director, ITRA, Jamnagar, said that ITRA has remained committed to advancing quality education, research and healthcare in Ayurveda. She added that the collaboration with Heartfulness Institute would strengthen academic exchange, collaborative research and training in integrative health while supporting biodiversity and sustainable development on the ITRA campus.
Focus on Biodiversity and Green Campus Development
An important component of the partnership will be technical support from Heartfulness Institute to ITRA for developing biodiversity and green zones across its campus and operations.
Drawing on its environmental initiatives, including Forests by Heartfulness, the institute will support medicinal plant programmes, horticulture gardens and biodiversity enhancement.
Heartfulness Institute will also provide technical inputs for curriculum development and refinement of treatment protocols. Both institutions will work together to promote a clean, sustainable and eco-friendly campus environment.
The five-year partnership is expected to create new opportunities in Ayurveda research, integrative healthcare, academic collaboration, skill development and sustainable campus development.
