Kolkata: Spice Money, a leading rural fintech platform and subsidiary of DiGiSPICE Technologies, has enabled over 9.5 million digital bill payments in rural India between January and May 2025 via the NPCI Bharat BillPay Limited’s Bharat Connect platform.
West Bengal led the surge with 18,000+ Adhikaris (Agents) powering over 2.16 million transactions, followed by Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. The majority of transactions were loan repayments (5.03 million) and electricity bill payments (3.5 million), reflecting a growing digital adoption among rural users.
Spice Money’s 15+ lakh-strong Adhikari network, covering 95% of rural pincodes, has played a transformative role in bridging the digital divide. These local agents assist communities in making utility payments—often for the first time—through a safe and user-friendly assisted model on the Spice Money App.
Dilip Modi, Founder & CEO of Spice Money, said, “Our mission is to drive financial inclusion by making digital services accessible and trusted in every village. This growth isn’t just about numbers, it reflects a behavioral shift towards digital confidence in rural Bharat.”
NPCI Bharat BillPay’s Bharat Connect platform, now integrated with 700+ apps, ensures last-mile access and inclusivity through its latest campaign #JaanteNahiParMaanteHain. Noopur Chaturvedi, MD & CEO of NPCI Bharat BillPay, remarked that the platform is helping create a truly unified digital payment ecosystem for every Indian.
Spice Money’s model stands as a strong example of grassroots innovation, combining fintech, trust, and local entrepreneurship to drive India’s digital future.
