Kolkata: Suvomoy Mitra, Commissioner Railway Safety (CRS)/Eastern Circle conducted statutory inspection and speed trial with max speed of 127 kmph of newly laid third line on 06.09.23 between Rampurhat & Chatra stations (22.64km) over Howrah Division which was completed ahead of schedule. P.K. Sharma, Chief Administrative Officer (Construction)/ Eastern Railway, Sanjeev Kumar, Divisional Railway Manager/ Howrah and other senior officers of Eastern Railway Headquarters and Howrah Division accompanied Mitra, during this inspection
Commissioning of the 3rd line between Rampurhat & Chatra has not only involved laying of track but also is a concerted effort of various departments for necessary signalling modification, modification overhead wire equipment, rearrangement of power distribution, shifting of level crossing gates etc.
There are 04 crossing stations with 3 New Electronic Interlocking, cabin modification of 1 Electronic Interlocking, bridge work for 3 major bridges in this section. Two junction stations having provision of 345 and 172 routes respectively.
20 days Pre-Non Interlocking/Non Interlocking blocks were taken earlier in conjunction with the commissioning of the 3rd line involving insertions of 81 turnouts, dismantling of 32 points, one diamond crossing and 9 cut and connections.
The required authorization by Commissioner Railway Safety (CRS)/Eastern Circle for opening of 3rd line from Rampurhat to Chatra station of Sainthia-Gumani section in Howrah division of Eastern railway is provided for public carriage of goods and passenger traffic on observance of certain stipulations laid down. This certainly will add upto the capacity & increased mobility in this important stretch of Railway route which acts as a gateway to North Bengal & North Eastern States.
