BSF Thwarts Smuggling Attempts, Seizes Large Quantities of Ganja, Locks, and Fish Pins at India-Bangladesh Border

Murshidabad : vigilant personnel from various battalions of the BSF South Bengal Frontier successfully foiled multiple smuggling attempts in the border regions of North 24 Parganas and Murshidabad districts, West Bengal. As a result, they seized a total of 12 kg of ganja, 55 locks and 8 plastic balloons filled with fish pins, which were being smuggled from India to Banglades

According to reports, around midnight on 31 August, based on intelligence from the BSF’s intelligence department, the 102nd Battalion at Border Outpost Ghojadanga observed suspicious activity involving two to three individuals carrying bundles toward the Bangladesh border. When the BSF jawans challenged them, the smugglers abandoned their goods and fled back toward the Indian side, taking advantage of the darkness and dense forest cover. Upon thoroughly searching the area, the jawans recovered plastic bags containing 8 balls filled with fish pins, estimated to be worth ₹2,40,000.

Additionally, in separate incidents on the same day, jawans from Border Outpost Tarali-1 of the 143rd Battalion seized 55 locks worth ₹19,250 and jawans from Border Outpost Narsaripara of the 146th Battalion seized 12 kg of ganja.

The seized items have been handed over to the local police station for further legal action.

The Public Relations Officer of the South Bengal Frontier stated that the BSF is implementing strict measures to curb smuggling along the Indo-Bangladesh border. He emphasized that individuals involved in such illegal activities are facing increasing difficulties and reiterated the commitment of the BSF to prevent smuggling under any circumstances.
