Kolkata: Sealdah Division is accomplishing a herculean infrastructure development work in Sealdah – Dankuni section by replacing girder of 15 CCR bridge in Dumdum – Dankuni Section.
The mammoth Bridge Regirdering work of the age old CCR Bridge becomes indispensable in order to ensure safety and security of train operations with better sectional speed. Regirdering work is in full swing at bridge nos 10, 11, 15 and 19 CCR and the same is on the verge of completion. The bridge is almost 95 years old and hence replacement of steel girders have become mandatory in view of ageing and corrosion. After removal of steel girder, Railway track laying is being done at a great speed. Under the shadow of this huge infrastructure development work, many long pending maintenance and alteration works are being done pertaining to Engineering, Electrical and Signal & Telecommunication Departments.

This historic infrastructure development work is being undertaken under the dynamic leadership of Shri Milind Deouskar, GM/E.Rly. GM/ER, Principal Head of the Departments and DRM/SDAH took stock of the progress of work and GM/ER has expressed his satisfaction over the pace of the all important work which is scheduled to be completed by 27th January early morning.
About 1000 labourers are working round the clock to meet the deadline in tandem with Railway engineers and officials. Completion of this mega project will augment Safety, Security and Speed of the entire section through which premium trains like Rajdhani, Duronto and Other Mail/Express train ply.

This ongoing railway infrastructure development project is essential for promoting economic growth, safety, efficiency, environmental sustainability, social development and faster movement of Rail traffic.
