Fortis Hospital, Anandapur Hosts PSYCH-ED 2025 Zonal Finals; Sunbeam School, Varanasi Qualifies for Nationals

Kolkata: Fortis Hospital, Anandapur hosted the Zonal Finals of the 8th edition of PSYCH-ED 2025, a national-level psychology quiz designed for school students of Classes XI and XII. The event saw enthusiastic participation from schools across the eastern region, with Sunbeam School, Lahartara, Varanasi emerging as the zonal winner, securing its place in the National Finals to be held in Delhi on September 1, 2025.

This year’s edition witnessed an overwhelming response, with over 12,000 students from 900+ schools across 190+ cities participating in the online rounds. The quiz, supported by GD Goenka University, Project CACA, Rupa Publications, and Adayu (a Fortis group company), has grown into a flagship platform that blends education with fun while raising awareness around mental health.

The winning team from Sunbeam School, Lahartara — Shreya Singh, Vinayak Bajaj, and Shreya Pandey — expressed their excitement, saying: “We are so excited to be going to Delhi! We’d like to thank our Psychology teacher the most — we were nervous, but she believed in us and helped us prepare. Let’s get PSYCH-ED!”

Promoting Mental Health Awareness Through Education

The quiz has been conceptualized and executed under the guidance of Dr. Samir Parikh, Chairperson – Fortis National Mental Health Program, Fortis Healthcare Limited.

Dr. Parikh remarked: “Our initiative is driven by a larger purpose — to promote awareness, reduce stigma around mental health and inspire curiosity about psychology among school students. The quiz serves as an engaging and enjoyable way to learn, blending education with fun.”

A Step Towards Nurturing Young Minds

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Ashish Mukherjee, Facility Director, Fortis Hospital, Kolkata, said: “PSYCH-ED is our endeavour to equip and enrich young minds, as we believe that great minds build a great nation. As a country, there is a great need for mental health professionals and initiatives like these encourage students to pursue psychology as a profession.”

With the Kolkata zonal finals concluded, all eyes are now on the Grand Finale in Delhi, where winning schools from across India will compete for the national title of PSYCH-ED 2025 Champion.
