Business Kolkata West Bengal

Kolkata : The India Autism Center (IAC), an upcoming world-class residential and day-care ecosystem dedicated to individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), announced the launch of its Caregiver Outreach Programme, an ambitious initiative aimed at training 300 specialized caregivers across West Bengal.

Designed to address the growing need for skilled and compassionate support for autistic individuals, the programme will equip caregivers with internationally aligned training in behavioural therapy, special education support, early intervention techniques, communication strategies, and assistive-care practices. The outreach model will ensure that both urban and rural communities gain access to high-quality autism care training.

Speaking at the announcement, IAC representatives emphasized that the initiative marks a significant step toward building India’s most comprehensive autism-support ecosystem. The trained caregivers will later be integrated into IAC’s upcoming first-of-its-kind residential campus, which aims to provide a safe, structured, and enabling environment for individuals with autism — a setting where education, therapy, skill development, healthcare and assisted living come together under one umbrella.

The Caregiver Outreach Programme will be rolled out in phases, starting with awareness workshops, followed by structured training modules facilitated by experts in autism care and neurodevelopmental therapy. Upon completion, participants will receive certification and opportunities for direct engagement with IAC’s residential and community-based services.

With autism cases steadily rising and caregiver shortages evident across India, the initiative is expected to play a transformative role in strengthening the support infrastructure for neurodivergent individuals and their families.

The India Autism Center’s residential ecosystem — spread across a multi-acre campus near Kolkata — is set to become one of the largest and most advanced autism-focused facilities in Asia, integrating care, research, training, and community engagement.
