Kolkata: Guru Nanak Institute of Technology (GNIT), a JIS Group Educational Initiative, welcomed its new batch of first-year students at Pravesh Utsav 2026, the institute’s orientation programme, held at the Dhano Dhanyo Auditorium in Kolkata.
The programme brought together prominent personalities from the fields of cinema, music, education and industry, who interacted with the newly admitted students and shared experiences from their professional journeys.
Among the distinguished guests were Jeet, Indian actor, film producer and television presenter; Rupankar Bagchi, playback singer and music composer; Santanu Moitra, music director, score composer and musician, who joined virtually; Sardar Amrik Singh, Deputy Managing Director, JIS Group; Sardar Simarpreet Singh, Director, JIS Group; Bidyut Majumder, Deputy Director, Business Development, JIS Group; and Prof. (Dr.) Swarup Kumar Mitra, Principal, Guru Nanak Institute of Technology.
The programme was also attended by Swami Sumanasananda Ji Maharaj, Ramakrishna Mission; Anupam Dutta, Advisor and Partner, AEKA; Avik Chakraborty, HR Manager, Cognizant Technology Solutions; Sanjay Kumar Das, Special Secretary, Department of Science and Technology, Government of West Bengal; Jaydip Mukherjee, Founder and Managing Consultant, JM Consulting & Advisory Services; and Pawan Kumar, Senior Manager & SCM/SAP Expert.
A key highlight of the event was the interaction between the guests and the students. Drawing from their diverse professional experiences, the speakers spoke about the importance of perseverance, creativity, discipline, passion and dedication in achieving personal and professional goals. The sessions encouraged students to develop broader perspectives and remain open to continuous learning and new opportunities.
The orientation programme also focused on the importance of learning beyond the classroom. Students were encouraged to embrace innovation, collaboration, curiosity, responsibility and leadership as they begin their academic journey at GNIT.
