Kolkata: Manipal Hospitals, one of India’s largest and most trusted healthcare providers, has brought festive joy to its cancer survivors with a specially curated initiative – Puja Parikrama 2025. The programme is a heartfelt tribute to their resilience, courage, and vitality during Kolkata’s grandest celebration, Durga Puja.

Recognising that true care extends beyond treatment, the hospital has designed two unique experiences for its patients. For those unable to step out, an exclusive movie screening of the much-anticipated film Raktabeej 2 will be organised. At the same time, those who are physically able will take part in a cultural parikrama on Panchami (27th September), visiting Kolkata’s most iconic Durga Puja pandals. Doctors will accompany the patients on the parikrama, while the stars of Raktabeej 2 will join the screening audience, making the celebration even more memorable.
The initiative draws inspiration from Goddess Durga’s victory over Mahishasura, symbolising strength, resilience, and hope. Through this effort, Manipal Hospitals aims to remind patients that they too embody the power to overcome challenges and celebrate life with dignity and joy.
Speaking about the initiative, Dr. Sourav Datta, Senior Consultant – Head and Neck Onco-Surgery & Director – Oncology, Manipal Hospital, EM Bypass, said:
“At Manipal Hospitals, we are privileged to witness extraordinary journeys every day, especially among our elderly cancer survivors who continue to fight with unmatched determination. Much like Goddess Durga symbolizes the triumph of good over evil, these survivors embody the triumph of life over disease. Puja Parikrama 2025 is our tribute to their strength – a celebration that goes beyond medicine, bringing cultural joy, togetherness, and hope. For us, this initiative is about honouring their spirit and reminding them, and all of us, that survival is not just about living longer, but living with dignity, happiness, and purpose.”
With this initiative, Manipal Hospitals reinforces its commitment not only to quality healthcare but also to the emotional and cultural well-being of its patients and the community. The programme reflects the hospital’s belief that festivals are most meaningful when every spirit is uplifted.
