Kolkata: The Youth Association of Mohammad Ali Park inaugurated its 56th Durga Puja celebration today, featuring a theme inspired by the iconic White House, the official residence and workplace of the President of the United States. The inauguration was done by Sudip Bandyopadhyay, Member of Parliament & was attended by: Rehana Khatun, Councillor & Borough Co-ordinator; Smita Bakshi, Ex MLA; Sanjay Bakshi, Ex MLA; Rajesh Sinha, Councillor; Shreya Pandey, Social Worker; Gokul Agarwal, Chairman of Youth Association of Mohammad Ali Park Durga Puja & many other eminent personalities.
This year’s idol, created by renowned artist Kush Bera, will highlight the critical theme of water conservation. In light of Bengal’s growing water crisis, the depiction of water as life emphasizes the urgent need for awareness and action against water pollution and wastage. The puja committee is committed to educating the public on these vital issues, ensuring that our celebrations carry meaningful messages for future generations.
Speaking to the media, Surendra Kr. Sharma, General Secretary of the Youth Association of Mohammad Ali Park Durga Puja said, “The artistic vision crafted by talented artisan Gopal Das from Medinipur has transformed the mandap into a stunning showcase of Bengali handicrafts, featuring intricate jute works and handmade decorations. Every year, we strive to blend tradition with contemporary relevance. This year’s idol, masterfully created by renowned artist Kush Bera, will carry a powerful message focused on water conservation, highlighting the urgent need to address Bengal’s growing water crisis. The idol’s depiction of water as a vital life source emphasizes the critical importance of awareness and action against water pollution and wastage. The puja committee is dedicated to educating the public on these pressing issues, ensuring that the celebrations resonate with meaningful messages for future generations.
