Kolkata: The Directorate General Resettlement (DGR) organised a DGR & Corporate HR Conclave in Kolkata on Friday to strengthen employment and second-career opportunities for ex-servicemen (ESM).
The conclave was organised through the Directorate of Resettlement Zone (East) at the Army Officers Institute (AOI), Vijay Durg, Kolkata. Representatives from around 40 leading corporate houses and industry organisations attended the event, along with senior Army officials and DGR representatives.

Organisations including Ambuja Cements, Royal Bengal ITC, Taj Group, CII, BNCCI, PwC and BNI were among those represented at the conclave.
The event focused on creating stronger links between the Armed Forces, DGR and the corporate sector to facilitate the employment and resettlement of personnel after their military service.
Speakers highlighted the professional strengths of ex-servicemen, including leadership, discipline, integrity, administration, logistics, security, operations and team management. These skills, officials said, can make former armed forces personnel a valuable resource for corporate organisations.
Air Vice Marshal AR Shendye delivered the keynote address, while Brigadier Saumya Banerjee, Sena Medal & Bar, of the Directorate of Resettlement Zone (East), made a detailed presentation on the contribution of ex-servicemen and the opportunities available for their employment in the corporate sector.
The conclave also familiarised corporate HR leaders with various DGR initiatives related to resettlement, employment facilitation, skill development and reorientation programmes for ex-servicemen.
The interaction underlined the importance of stronger public-private partnerships in creating sustainable second-career opportunities for ex-servicemen and bridging the gap between the defence community and the corporate sector.
